Fight stress with meditation – Position Yourself

Traditionally – meditation involves sitting with your legs crossed and back straight. But let us tell you, it is OK to sit on a chair or on the bed. We only suggest that you don’t lie down while trying to practice meditation – you will fall asleep! Ideally, you’d want to be in a position that leaves your back straight, your chest is pushed outwards for deep breathes, and you are relaxed. That’s the key word – be relaxed!

Fight stress with meditation – Breath

Proper breathing techniques are essential to meditation. Experts suggest that if you don’t have professional help, you may want to start by simply closing your eyes and taking in deep breaths with the nose. Exhale strongly from the mouth. Concentrate on your breathing and feel each breath of fresh air bring in more oxygen and more happiness into your body and life. We are not going to nag you again – Don’t try too hard. It’s all about relaxing, breathing, and infusing the feeling of satisfaction.

Should you have an empty mind while meditating? Or should you think about good things in life? Or think about how to solve the problems that stress you out? This depends on the intensity and the extent of stress. Stress levels vary with individuals and you must decide whether you want to focus on emptying your thoughts to start afresh, or you want to focus on bringing solutions to your issues. From prior experience, we’d suggest that you empty your mind out in the beginning. A sense of calm will prevail. Or get professional help; there are many methods of mind control that you can use. Our tip– stay away from complications unless you are a pro.

Stress may be induced by a lot of factors. Unemployment, financial crisis, unhealthy relationships, gambling, vices, etc – there are lots of causes. Did you know, even bad experiences during childhood are thought to cause stress later in life?
