3 Reasons Why Breastfed Babies have Higher IQ's When They Grow Up

Breastfeeding is nature’s way of ensuring that the new mothers bond with their New born babies. Body issues and other factors over the years have played havoc with this beautiful bonding and many mothers are now feeding their kids baby formula or cow’s milk, goat milk or sometimes even soy milk. Unless babies are allergic to lactogen, it is always wise to breast feed babies, they get their nourishment and warmth from the mother’s and they also feel safer when held closer to the mother’s chest. Recent studies have also shown that breastfed babies have higher IQ’s when they grow up. Here are a few reasons as to why breastfed babies have higher IQ’s than babies who are fed other milk and formula.

1. Milk from the mother is highly nutritious to the baby

Breast milk has the perfect balance of nutrients that is needed by a new born. Breast milk also includes the right amount of fats needed for brain growth and this could be one of the reasons why breastfed babies are smarter and have higher IQ’s than babies who are fed baby formulas and other milk.

2. Breast milk has antibodies and enzymes

This helps protect the baby from any infections and also prevents the baby from falling sick. When babies are healthy, more nutrients from the milk and other sources will reach their brain directly and the rain will also function normally and remain healthy. Since a brain develops more rapidly and for the better in a healthy body than in a sick body, it makes sense that new born babies should be fed breast milk.

3. The emotional bonding

Scientists who have conducted research on the benefits of breast feeding have also found out that the emotional bonding between the mother and the child in these early stages is also a reason for the higher IQ’s in the later stages. Breastfed babies are also less prone to alcoholism and are more emotionally stable than babies who were not breastfed as infants.

Apart from the higher IQ levels, there are so many other benefits of breast feeding. The child feels secure being held close, it gets enough nourishment that is natural and the mother and the baby bond more closely.
