6 Ways To Cheer Up A Sick Friend
Unless you’re a 12-year old who is just looking for another excuse to bunk school, nobody likes to be sick. But sometimes, illness is our body’s way of telling us we need to slow down, take it easy and make time for our self. And if your best friend is sick, you need to make sure she stays in good spirits on her way to swift recovery. Check out these simple ways to cheer up a sick friend.
1. Get some music to pep up your friend’s mood
Everybody knows about the therapeutic effects of music. Good music is known to alleviate a person’s mood. Make your friend a music CD or update her iPod with some happy songs like ‘Walking On Sun’ by Katrina, ‘Music Box’ by Regina Spektor or ‘Shiny Happy People’ by R.E.M. You could also sing for her or if you play an instrument like the guitar, play her favorite song for her!
2. Relive happy memories with your best friend
Memories are the times we spent in the past which we never wish to part with. They are treasured events which we want to relive over and over again. So help your friend remember all your happy times together. Take her down the memory lane by playing old tapes of her sweet sixteenth birthday celebrations or getting her photographs from that party you both went to and danced like crazy.
3. Give a token of love to your friend
Remember how when you were little and you’d fall down while playing, your daddy would buy you ice-cream to make you stop crying? Turns out, in some ways we never really grow up. We want people to take care of us when we’re sick, we want to feel loved. So, get your friend a token of your love. It’s not important how expensive it is, it’s the thought that counts. Make her a get-well card or get her flowers from your garden. The more personalized it is, the more she’s going to appreciate it.
