5 Reasons Why You Should Do Philanthropy Regularly

Philanthropy is the act of giving to others and almost all the religions in the world advocate this deed. Some call it a selfish act making the giver feel special or feel superior, some call it a selfless act as it is quite difficult to part away with your hard earned money or things. Whatever it is called or however people look at it, Philanthropy is a great act of kindness that brings joy and happiness to both the giver and the receiver. We all engage in some act of philanthropy throughout our lives. It may not be on a big scale but we all give at some point in our lives without really expecting anything in return. Instead of making it a one time act, we should make philanthropy a regular thing and here are reasons as to why you should do it regularly.

1. It is an act that tries to weed out the problem rather than solve it temporarily

There is a difference between philanthropy and charity. Whereas charity tries to solve the problem temporarily, philanthropy tries to weed out the problem be it poverty or hunger. While charity is like feeding a man fish, philanthropy is like teaching him how to fish. Doing it regularly only will make the world a better place and it is good enough reason to practice it on a regular basis.

2. It increases your self-worth

Giving away your time or money or other stuff to better other people’s lives increases your self-worth and changes the way you look at yourself and other people. You feel much better about yourself when you know you have made a difference in the lives of other people or that your act of kindness has changes a lot of things in someone else’s life.

3. It makes you happy

Although it can be called a selfish act, there is no denying the fact that an act of philanthropy actually makes you happy. You should do it regularly if it makes you happy as anything that makes you happy can only do you good.
