Autism is a complex neurological disorder that affects roughly one in 110 births in the country. It falls under the Autism Disorder spectrum and is coupled with Asperger’s Syndrome where the kids affected by it display symptoms like poor social skills, lack of concentration, withdrawal into their own worlds and repetitive actions that may annoy others. It is difficult for anyone to raise a kid with autism and the stress and pressure gets worse when others do not understand anything about the disorder and call people with autism stupid and slow. Autism is not curable and even though it is diagnosed early, it never goes away completely and it present through their adult lives. 1. It is a bio-neurological developmental disorder that can be caused by genetics and environmental factors

Research has proven that autism is caused by a defect in the genes when the baby is still a fetus. Environmental factors also play a role, but research on it is still inconclusive and underway.

Individuals with autism often and mostly suffer from numerous co-morbid medical conditions such as allergies, Tourette Syndrome, OCD, sensory integration , asthma, epilepsy, digestive disorders, persistent viral infections, feeding disorders, sensory integration dysfunction and sleeping disorders.

3. It affects more boys than girls

More boys are born autistic than girls, even though there is no specific role played by a particular gender or a race as its cause. Although there is a claim that the incidence of autism has gone up, many others say that it is so because there is more available information now than earlier about the reported cases of autism.
