Reasons Junk Food may not be so Bad

Obesity and related diseases are undoubtedly a major concern for people across the world. Our improper eating habits, coupled with sedentary lifestyles, have led to a host of health issues. With hectic schedules and junk food readily available, many people are increasingly opting for it. Recent studies have shown that certain junk foods can be actually good for your health. While it is not to say that you thrive on them, indulging in them occasionally might do some good to your body. Here are some reasons why junk food might not be so bad after all.

1. Contains antioxidants

Certain items such as dark chocolate comprise high doses of antioxidants, which help to reduce the risk of contracting heart diseases. It also helps to lower blood pressure. When paired with nuts and brownie, it becomes loaded with fiber, which is good for the body. However, take care that you limit your intake to just about 100 grams a day.

2. Boast anti-cancer properties

While trans fats are not good for the body, there is one natural trans-fat, also known as Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) that does good to the body. This can be found in processed cheese. It is loaded with anti-cancer attributes and is beneficial for the body.

3. Helps to absorb vitamins better

Some foods like butter are usually avoided by those on a diet. Research has however shown that consuming butter equips our body to better absorb vitamins such as vitamins D, A, E and K. You can opt for whipped butter to help you cut down on your calorie intake without sacrificing taste.
