How to Deal with Parental Issues?

The way we turn out when we grow up depends a whole lot on our childhood, especially how our parents were and how they treated us and what kind of example they set up for us, along with the expectations they forced. Now, of course no parent is perfect, and sometimes mistakes in parenting leads to scars. Almost all of us have those few attributes that we blame on bad parenting.

The question is, why? Agreed that no one can control their childhood, and those very years form who we become, but once we have grown up, and have seen the world around us, is it really what happened that holds us back or is it our very resistance to change? Think about it. When you can change your entire wardrobe, or the salon you visit, you can surely change those traits that you blame on your mom or on your dad. Your dad was an alcoholic, big deal! You don’t have to be one! Your mom picked out faults in every little thing you did does not mean you have to become the same fidgety person!

You become like people you are surrounded by only when you are not aware of your own actions and your inner system. If you are clear in your head, and you introspect enough, you might as well live with drug dealers and be a teetotaler. To deal with parental issues, you need to follow three steps – acceptance, perseverance, celebration.
