5 Ways to Motivate Your Subordinates At Work

Are you an aspiring team leader or a manager already? “You should know that your performance and survival at work depends on how well your subordinates carry out the tasks they have been delegated”, said Carla, 40, a manager at a popular chain of beauty salons. Carla knows how to give her subordinates tough love and some much needed motivation. Find out how to motivate your subordinates by knowing these 5 top tips that Carla had for us.

1. Verbally appreciate their efforts as often as you can

“The most effective way to motivate your subordinates is to appreciate their work when they’ve done a good job. I simply pat them on the back and tell them that they’ve done a good job”, said Carla. You too can learn how to motivate your subordinates by knowing when to appreciate their work. After all, we all crave for appreciation, don’t we?

2. Give them a break or time off

“I like to think of the members of my team at the salon as people who deserve a good break if they put in extra efforts in their work”, said Carla, who often gives her employees extra holidays if she thinks they’ve been working hard. “I make sure I give my hard working team members a day off if they’ve been staying back many days in a row, which is quite the case during the holiday season”, she added.

3. Reward your subordinates

Every company and management has a separate budget for employee entertainment and we don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t be using these funds to reward and treat your subordinates. This is a great technique on how to motivate your subordinates because a reward like a gift voucher, gift card or even cash rewards give a massive boost to any subordinate’s morale.
