8 Ways to Improve Your Relationship With Your Boss

8 Ways to Improve Your Relationship With Your Boss

There are days when you might feel like killing your boss. However, that won’t really help you in office. You need to keep your cool and think of strategies to improve the situation. We give you some of the ways in which you can enhance your relationship with your boss.

1. Deliver on time

Make sure your boss can trust you with the job that has been assigned to you. Ensure that you deliver your targets on time and meet all timeline commitments. You must be able to manage your time well, in order to do this. Stay focused on the task and avoid any delays. This will make your boss have confidence in you and it will go a long way in improving your relationship with him/her.

2. Be honest

When you are asked for an opinion, do not just mouth what everyone else is saying. Be honest about your opinions even if they differ from what others feel. This will let your boss know that you have a lot of original ideas and are not afraid to share them with the team. Make sure you do not come across as an arrogant or disrespectful person.

3. Take responsibility for your actions

If you are unable to fulfill your targets and cannot deliver on time or have made some error in your work, do not make excuses. Instead of blaming someone else in the team, own up to the situation and take responsibility of where you went wrong. This may seem a very difficult thing to do but it shows strength of character.

4. Learn to read his/her moods

Your boss may not be very vocal about what he or she is thinking about a particular issue. You must learn to observe the non-verbal gestures and facial expressions to judge his/her mood. If you are able to do this, then it will become really easy for you to discuss the right thing at the right time with your boss. This will also drastically reduce your chances of getting into a bad argument with him/her.
