6 Tips to Survive the Holiday Season on a Budget

4. Plan well

You will pretty much have a vague idea of what you will be spending on during the holidays. Some might come up suddenly, but always plan ahead and always have a contingency fund that you can rely on.

5. Do not go for brands

When it comes to clothes, you can pretty much find the same thing of the same quality but of a lesser known brand. You can go for the one that is not a well-known brand and save a lot of money. You can have the same thing and also manage to spend under your budget.

6. Share the costs of the party

If you are throwing a party, you do not have to cook and buy drinks for everyone. Whoever comes in can bring in their own liquor and you can all cook together with each bringing in their own ingredient. When you do it together, it won’t look cheap but will bring you closer.

Always have the faith that things will change for the better and that you won’t always have to live through your holidays on a budget. When you start thinking this way, you will actually not feel bad about having to scrape through life. You will take it as a learning lesson and not worry too much about it. And do not overshoot your budget, for it will come back to bite you soon after.
