5 Reasons Why is it Important to Breathe While Exercising

4. It lowers your heart rate

Rhythmic breathing also helps lower your heart rate. Proper oxygen intake with the right breathing helps your body burn fat faster too, thus assisting in weight loss, especially when you drink the right amount of water. Moreover, we are naturally used to holding our breath while indulging in some physical activities. Regular exercise and conscious breathing will ensure that we are not doing that. Moreover, rapid breathing which is what we end up doing when strained should be avoided. It is called hyperventilation and should be guarded against.

5. It helps avoid fatigue

If the muscles are depleted of oxygen, we cannot finish our exercise regime. Improper oxygen intake tires our brain and our muscles leading to fatigue. To enhance stamina, it is important to breathe in sufficient oxygen through long breaths. Individual exercises too have their own breathing patterns. For example, with biceps curls, we should exhale while flexing and inhale while coming back. Breathing should also be practiced while stretching. Consciously breathing during exercises will ensure we get used to it after a while.
