1. Must be firm at decision making

If anyone wants to be a good leader, they need to be good at their decision making skills. They shouldn’t be faltering in making decisions that are good for the team or organization. They should also take into account all the factors before deciding on something and once they make the decision they should not change it. If they do that, then their decision making capabilities will be termed finicky.

2. Must be able to inspire others

Those who are able to inspire others to do well and do better than them fall into the category of good leaders. Team leaders must be able to be a role model for their team members. They shouldn’t be lax in their work, or be lazy in taking up their responsibilities because doing things such as these will lead to a bad impression for their team members. Team leaders must always be up to the mark and thus motivate others to excel.

3. Must be intelligent/smart

This is one of the primary requirements to be good leaders. If team leaders are not intelligent enough, they won’t be able to take the right decisions for their team. They should also be smart to think and decide what needs to be done in different situations.

4. Must be able to listen to others

Another important quality required by team leaders is the ability to listen to others’ opinions and views. The leaders should allow as well as encourage their team members to speak. If leaders fail to listen to others’ opinions, their train of thought will be narrow and they might lose a good solution or an idea given by a team member. If team leaders listen to their team members’ ideas, the members will feel appreciated that their views are also taken into account.

5. Must handle emergency situations well

Good team leaders must be capable of dealing with emergency situations. If there is a crisis, team leaders must keep their cool and also help other members to deal with it. They should not panic because if the leader is nervous, then no one can hold the team together. So, team leaders should maintain peace, act quickly but smartly, and lead the team out of the crisis.
