7 Tips for Choosing the Right Perfume

A good fragrance is just as important as good clothes or jewelry. It is never easy to pick a signature fragrance; be it for yourself or a friend. The fragrance that smells good on someone else may not smell good on you. There are so many things to consider before you spend money on a good fragrance. We give you some of the things that you should keep in mind while choosing the right perfume, apart from your budget of course.

1. Think of all the scents that you like

To begin with, think of fragrances that excite you or make you happy. Things like the smell of freshly cut grass, a particular flower, clean laundry, the scent of rain on dry earth, etc. The whole point of this exercise is to find a scent that you like and then try to find a perfume that has similar notes.

2. Consider your personality

Knowing what kind of personality you have is extremely important when you choose a perfume. The reason is that the perfume you choose must be an extension of your personality. Are you a warm person? Are you flirtatious? Are you perky and vivacious? Do you have a soothing personality? What kind of music and food do you like? Also, when figuring out which perfume to buy, you must also consider the kind of personality and attitude you want to exude. If you are a no make-up kind of girl and love the outdoors, then opt for a clean, fresh scent. In other words, choose the scent that represents you best.

3. Consider when you wish to apply the fragrance

If you know when you plan to wear the perfume, then it can help narrow down your search. It is advised that you wear light perfumes during daytime and go for more concentrated ones for night time wear. Different perfumes are designed to be worn at different times of the day.

4. Consider your skin type

It is important that you think about your skin type while choosing a perfume for yourself. If you have dry skin, then the fragrance will dissipate faster. Also, you could opt for a highly concentrated perfume instead of an Eau de Toilette. The former will last longer if you have dry skin.
