7 Tips for Choosing the Right Perfume

5. Test the perfume on your body

The way the perfume smells on a tester or on someone else may be very different from how it will smell on you. Things like your skin type, body temperature, weather, your diet and the room temperature, affect the way a perfume will smell. Also, when trying the perfume on your body, wear it on your wrist. This will give you the real representation of how the scent will smell on you.

6. Consider the notes

You must understand that every perfume has three notes- top note, mid note, and base note. The smell that you get when you apply the perfume on your wrist, is the top note. Once you apply it on your wrist, wait for 15-20 minutes and smell the wrists again. The smell that you get now is the mid note. After about an hour, smell the wrist again. This is the base note of the perfume. Your decision of whether to buy the scent or not should be based on the base note because that is the fragrance that will last the longest on your body.

7. Do not try too many perfumes at once

If you try smelling too many perfumes one after the other, then you will soon not be able to differentiate between them. You can ask the representative at the store for some coffee beans. Most good stores will have them. Smell the coffee beans while you move from smelling one perfume to the other.
