6 Things You Didn’t Know About Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

4. The specialty of the set

There are many scenes of the North Pole which have actually been displayed only on a large table where Rudolph is 9 inches tall and Santa is 16 inches. The models were made up of wood and latex. These were auctioned in 2007 where Santa has only half a mustache and the young Rudolph had no red nose. The owner spent about $4,000 to get the damage repaired.

5. Changes in the original story

In the original script, Rudolph, Hermey the elf, and Yukon Cornelius were unable to reach the Island of Misfit Toys to help them. When it was telecast, many children wrote letters to the producer requesting him to change the end and allow Rudolph and his friends to help the toys. The producer was compelled to change the ending. Not only that, the original story said that Rudolph was given to his parents by a stork but when Burl Ives, a Canadian actor was chosen to narrate this story, Rudolph was said to have been born just like any other reindeer baby would be.

6. Its first sponsor

The General Electrics was the first company to sponsor Rudolph. They even changed their marketing strategy for its promotion. Whoever bought any electronic item from this company would get a sound track album of the movie free. They completely changed the business around.
