Pros and Cons of Electrolysis and Thermolysis

Pros and Cons of Electrolysis and Thermolysis

Electrolysis and thermolysis are popular methods of hair removal. In these methods, a fine probe is inserted in the hair follicle and the follicle is destroyed completely. These methods, if done correctly, promise good results, but that does not always happen. The skills of the technician too plays a vital role in achieving good results.

Electrolysis

In this method a needle is inserted in the hair follicle and direct current is passed. This current makes a chemical called lye or sodium hydroxide. The hair follicle gets destroyed by the lye and is pulled out.

Pros of Electrolysis
It can be used on anyone despite their skin color, because it attacks the skin follicle, and not the pigment in the hair. Each visit costs around $45, and will treat a small area like the eyebrows. If you have dark skin, and light hair, than you cant rely on the standard laser treatment for safety issues, or to give maximum results. Electrolysis can then be another option. Electrolysis gives the results when you have fine facial hair despite any color of your hair.

Cons of Electrolysis
Electrolysis is a painful treatment. Skin can get discolored, if not done properly. Electrolysis is time consuming and the number of sessions are more than those required for laser treatment. It can turn expensive and annoying as the number of sessions are more and every session is expensive.
