How to Deal With a Creepy Roommate

When you stay with your family, you are used to a certain way of living. You have a certain manner of dealing with people and household situations, and have a fair idea of how to go about maintaining your space, given the kind of people you are living with. However, all of your notions, actions and ideas turn upside down when the people you are living with suddenly change! In other words, you have to do everything again, right from scratch, the moment you step out of your house and start living with a new roommate.

While some roommates can be really fun to live with, as you get to bond with them and make friends for a lifetime, there are other roommates that can turn out to be really creepy. If you have got signs right from the beginning that your roommate is creepy, and you’ve started to feel uncomfortable around her, then here are a few tips that might help.

1. Keep conversations limited

You may have a living room in your house, but for your benefit, it’s advisable to stay in your room in order to not encounter her and keep your conversations limited. Sooner or later, she is bound to get the idea that you don’t want her around, and hopefully, she may leave!

2. Keep information limited

If your roommate has a tendency of clinging too much and turns up randomly at places you go to, then it’s best to keep information limited. Don’t share your plans with her and don’t tell her where you are hanging out with your friends. That will save you from the situation where she invites herself on her own and comes to ruin your plans.

3. Get a friend over

Ask your friends to take turns to stay over at your house and give you company. During college life and otherwise, friends do crash at each other’s places anyway. So you might as well ask them to be with you on a few days to help you feel comfortable, while your roommate can feel ignored and feel like leaving the house.
