Sodium bicarbonate, popularly known as baking soda is commonly used in cooking as a leavening agent in cakes and bread among other food items. But this wonderful compound can be used around the house and for other health benefits also. Read on to find out some surprising uses of baking soda.

1. To remove residue from hair

Do you use a lot of hair products? Do you find it difficult to remove the residue of sprays, gels and other hair styling products with just one wash of shampoo? Resolve this problem by mixing a pinch of baking soda with your shampoo and wash your hair. Baking soda is known to help in removing dirt and other residue particles to leave your hair cleaner. Rinse your hair well and use a moisturizing conditioner. If you want, you can even finish the routine with a healing hair serum with essential oils after your bath to leave your hair healthy and moisturized.

2. To clean the oven and microwave

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and also a cleaning agent. Take advantage of its chemical properties and use it to clean your oven or your microwave.
