Peanut allergy is an allergic reaction of the body and the immune system to peanuts and any food that has peanuts in them. 1. Read the food label carefully before you buy a product

Although the FDA mandates that all food products with peanut in them should advertise it, the ingredients can change, so it is up to you constantly check the labels of the food item you eat.

2. A younger sibling of someone with peanut allergy has more chances of being allergic too

If you have a younger sibling and you are allergic to peanuts, it is advisable for your younger sibling also to get tested as the chances of them getting it are more.

3. Although peanuts are legume and tree nuts are different, some people allergic to peanuts are also allergic to tree nuts

This may happen because the nuts come in contact during manufacturing or serving. Doctors always advise patients to stay away from nuts in case you have a peanut allergy.

4. You need to contact a doctor immediately if you have severe symptoms after coming into contact with a peanut.

The allergy is worse when you normally eat a peanut or eat foods with peanuts in them, but sometimes contact with peanuts can also trigger an allergic reaction.
