Procrastinating tasks not only messes up with your time schedule, but also plays havoc with others’ time especially in an office environment. Be it in school, home or work, it is always advisable to complete work on time. It reduces a lot of stress and helps you from not wasting your time thinking about the work you choose to postpone for a while. Here are a few tips to stop procrastinating.

1. Think and make a list of the things you procrastinate the most

You can tend to procrastinate a task or a phone call repeatedly. Make a list of the specific things that you do not do at the right time and assess the reasons as to why you do so. When you get down to the bottom of the cause, you will find a way to get over it and do it on time. You will also realize that you waste less time thinking about the things you have not done.

2. Get rid of distractions

If you are working on a report and you do not need material from the internet, turn it off. It will only serve as a distraction and will help you in procrastinating more if you are really not into the report. This is just one example, but the fact remains that we surround ourselves with distractions when we are not completely focused.

3. Take adequate breaks

Burn out is a byproduct of non-stop work. When you work for long hours without a break, you get tired and will end up postponing g the task for a later time. But if you take regular breaks, you will finish the work on time and won’t feel completely burnt out at the end of it.

4. Find a comfortable place to work

Work in a place that you find comfortable. If you are not able to work from home, then a park or a coffee place could work for you. Also in an office, work in a place where there is less distraction. Choose a place that is away from the cafeteria or from friends when you are concentrating.
