Teenage can be a tough period in your child’s life for you to deal with. Teens can talk back to their parents, rebel for almost everything and go against their parents’ wishes. Here are a few techniques you can use to deal with your rude teen.

1. Link a negative consequences to your teen’s rude behavior

Rude behavior can go out of limits if you don’t come down heavy handed on your teen when it is required. If your teen has been back answering you, there may be a need for you to clearly establish who the boss is. Cut back on some of your teen’s favorite comforts that you provide for. It could be your teen’s allowance, a Play Station game or permission for a sleepover with friends.

2. Ignore your teen until there is a change in tone

Yelling, screaming, whining, being grumpy and heightening the pitch of voive are some of the tactics that your rude teen may resort to while talking back at you. If you respond to such a tone, in a way you are sending out a message that you accept your teen’s rude behavior. Make it a point to ignore your teen until the pitch is lowered. Lay a very clear rule that you will not involve yourself in a conversation with your teen unless the tone is polite.

3. Talk with your teen to know the real reason of the problem

One of the reasons that your teen is grumpy and rude all the time could be an internal conflict which he/she is facing and not talking to you about. When your teen does not open up to you, it could lead to frustration and anxiety which eventually comes out in the form of a rude response. To get to the bottom of the problem, sit down and probe your teen to talk to you honestly.
