10 Ways to Handle Your Child’s Fussy Eating Habits

Ways to Handle Your Child’s Fussy Eating Habits

Making your child eat can be a ‘Mission Impossible’ task for you. These days kids are very picky and tend to have fussy eating habits. With worries about nutrition on your mind and hectic personal and professional schedules, things may become very difficult for you. So, to help you with this, here’s a list of 10 ways to effectively handle your child’s fussy eating habits:

1. Don’t run after him

A mother wants her child to eat and remain healthy. Probably that’s the reason why she keeps running after her children and continuously pester them to eat. If you are doing it too then, you need to stop. If he refuses food, let it be. Leave it to that.

2. Ignore his temper tantrums

Whatever tantrums he throws during the meal time, just ignore. Turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to all his tantrums.

3. Stop pampering

Even if the mother inside you is gnawing at you, simply do not pamper him. Further pampering will worsen things for you and for him too!

4. Inculcate some sense of discipline in him

If he refuses food at one time, make it crystal clear to him that he will not get anything before the second meal time. He might throw tantrums or show attitude, but gradually he’ll come around and get discipline. Just remember to be persistent while enforcing discipline.

5. Let him feel the pangs of hunger

Some people may find it cruel or insensitive, but there’s nothing wrong in making your child feel ‘hunger’. Let him know what it’s like to be without food. Only then he’ll realize the importance of eating.
