8 Ways to Prevent Skin Cancer

5. Wear sunglasses and wide brimmed hats when you are out in the sun

Wear sunglasses that cover your eyes well and also wide brimmed sun hats that protect your face well from the sun.

6. Wear clothes that cover most of your skin and make sure the material is woven tight

Wet clothes and loosely woven materials let in a lot of sunlight through. Pick a material that is tightly woven and lets little sunlight pass through. Change out of your wet clothes as soon as possible and do not walk too much in the sun with them.

7. Be liberal with the sunscreen

Consult your dermatologist and find out the amount of spf your skin needs. Lather on the cream when you go out in the sun and make sure you keep adding it on every 20 minutes. Usually a sunscreen lotion with a spf of 30-45 is good enough so do not go for creams with a lot of spf and reduce the number of times you apply the cream or the lotion.

8. Examine yourself from head to toe and check with the doctor if you see any suspicious moles

An examination in front of the mirror once in a while will also let you know if there have been any undesirable changes in your skin. Always go to a doctor if you notice any suspicious looking moles or warts on your skin.

The UV rays of the sun can be pretty damaging for your skin. Make sure your skin is not too exposed to the sun. Also cut down on the smoking as it is also one of the reasons that cause skin cancer.
