An Amazon and New York times best seller which was also called as a work of art that is near genius. This book about a love story between two cancer patients not only took the world by storm for its selling rate but also its writing style. It was also released t much critical acclaim with contemporary authors giving rave reviews. The book was partly inspired by real life people and real life incidents, including incidents and experiences by the author. The book “Fault in Our Stars” is the fourth solo novel by author John Green, published in January 2012. Here are some amazing facts about the book.

1. The book is in the form of a narration as told by a 16 year old.

The story is narrated by a sixteen-year-old cancer patient named Hazel, who attends a support group for cancer patients after being forced by her parents. It is in this support group that she subsequently meets and falls in love with the seventeen-year-old Augustus Waters, an ex-basketball player and amputee.

2. The title of the book is inspired from a Shakespearean play “Julius Caesar”

Inside the Book, it is written that the title is inspired by a famous line from Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar (Act 1, scene 2), ‘the fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings.’

3. The author has mentioned that his first inspiration came from his experience working as a student chaplain in a children’s hospital.

He also says that during his time there, he found the children to be as human as healthy people, and wanted to capture the feeling that “the stories that I was reading sort of oversimplified and sometimes even dehumanized them”.
