5 Ways to Deal With a Jealous Friend

4. Talk it out

The biggest antidote to all problems is discussion. You should have a heart to heart discussion with your friend and try and sort out the grievances he/she may feel. You need to explain to him/her that change is constant and just because you aren’t spending as much time as before does not mean that you care any less. Your friend’s jealousy mainly arises from the fear that he/she means less to you than before and that things have permanently changed between the two of you. Put the fears to rest by reassuring him/her that your friendship can wither a few cuts and scrapes without any serious damage.

5. Make amends

Finally, you need to make amends to eliminate the cause of jealousy itself. This requires putting a little effort. This will mean making that phone call just to see how he/she is doing rather than lazing around in front of the TV. Making time to hang out and plan something so you guys can get an opportunity to bond. Further, if the cause of jealousy is a new friend you may have made, introduce him/her to your friend, so they become friends as well. Familiarity will put your friend’s mind at ease and ultimately help you fix your friendship!
