6 Things You Must Know Before Setting Up Your Wedding Gift Registry

Now that you are engaged, you are likely to be very excited about setting up your wedding registry with your fiance’s help. But before you go into a tizzy of listing out your dream gifts, here are the things you must know before you begin setting up your registry.

1. Gifts you should include

Traditionally, a wedding registry has gifts that include chinaware, wine glasses, electronic appliances, silverware, home décor items and other house accessories. If you have most items that are typically found on a wedding registry, choose gifts that you may need for a specific occasion such as your honeymoon. Tailor your wedding registry according to your needs.

2. The stores you should set up your registry with

Plenty of stores offer wedding registry services with attractive offers. Pick a total of two to three stores. Select one retailer who has presence in most states and is likely to be easily accessible by your guests. Pick one e-tailer so that your internet savvy guests can order items online. And rest your last choice on a particular boutique store which sells unique items. This way, you will ensure that you cover a range of gift items and give your guests enough choice to play around with.

3. The number of items you should list in the registry

The number of gifts you list in your wedding registry should be directly proportional to the number of guests you have invited to your wedding. List an average of two to three gifts per guest, so that you leave them enough choices. If you build a lengthy 10 page list for a handful of guests, it will cause them a lot of confusion and you might also come across as a greedy couple.
