This park is most famous for its ‘walking safaris’. I am the typical faint hearted woman and embarking on a walking safari was the last thing on my wish list. But thanks to my adventure crazy partner, I nervously embarked on a journey that will forever be close to my heart. You don’t need to be super fit– you will get trained guides. The South Luangwa National Park is also known for its pods of hundreds of hippos along the Luangwa River, and excellent bird watching experiences with reportedly more than 400 species of birds. Let me warn you – children under the age of 12 are not allowed on some of the walking trips so you might want to make other arrangements.
