When you are touching your 60’s and progressing along, your metabolism just begins it snail pace. And since your metabolism is thinking about taking it slow, you should too take a cue from it and slow down on your food intake. Since you will have to eat less, you need to be careful in selecting food that will give you the right amount of nutrients that is needed. Cutting down on food should not lead to cutting down on the necessary nutrients. To stay vibrant and active, you just need the right amount of food. Again you need foods that would keep you healthy as with age comes a lot of unwanted diseases and health problems. Here is a list of foods that you should be eating when you are in your 60’s.

1. Flaxseed

Flaxseeds are a wonderful source of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. It is also a great option if you have high cholesterol as flaxseeds have the ability to lower cholesterol levels. You can have a tablespoon of flaxseed every day. if you do not like to have them straight, you can sprinkle them on your cereals in the morning or mix it when you are having a smoothie. It also gives your skin a good glow.

2. Chicken feet

Well it is not exactly a delicacy and it is not completely appetizing to look at either. But it has some great nutritional properties that are just right for your body at this age. It reduces the pain caused by arthritis and also has enzymes that help in getting you a younger looking skin. You will also end up looking less wrinkly if you have it on a regular basis. If you do not like the idea of chicken feet on your plate, you can make a soup and drink it.

3. Oats

Oats bring down the cholesterol levels and are a good choice if you want to bring down your risks of heart attacks. You can start your day with an oatmeal breakfast and add some nut and berries to it to make it tastier and more appealing to you. Oats are also rich in fiber, which makes digestion much easier. Oatmeal is also light on your stomach.
