Types of People You Meet at The Gym

Exercising and socializing go hand in hand when you choose to go to the gym for your workouts. You are likely to meet an interesting bunch of individuals with varied personality profiles. Here’s a list of different kinds of people that you are likely to bump into:

1. The Motivator

‘Come on, you can do it’, ‘One more push, for me, oh yes!’, ‘Don’t you give up, simply don’t!’ – You can expect to hear such motivational messages from ‘The Motivator’ with every push you take. Initially it may feel good to have some one egg you on to do more, but too much of motivation may drive you mad too. So watch out!

2. The Competitor

The Competitor is always in competition with you. If you are on treadmill for 30 minutes, she’ll be there for 31. If you do 15 push-ups, she’ll try and do 16. She’ll often make sure through agonizing taunts or teasing dialogues, that you and everyone in the gym is aware that she is ahead of you.

3. The Free Advice Giver

For every exercise and every workout, she has an ‘advice’. ‘Run on treadmill like this’, ‘Hold the weight like that’, ‘Eat this before workout’, ‘Drink that after workout’ and likes. It would seem that besides gaining physical stamina, you are also gaining mental patience by trying hard not to run away from this constant adviser. Why her pieces of advice don’t work for her is something that would elude you always, so in the meantime, simply nod and try to get away as fast as you can.
