Frightening Facts About the Abduction of School Girls in Nigeria

Over 200 schoolgirls were abducted in Nigeria in the month of April and they still have not been found by anyone. What is frightening about the whole abduction drama is that the terrorists who did this can get away with it and also shamelessly post videos about what they intend to do with them. Also disturbing are the news reports which claim that the terrorists plan to sell away these girls in the neighboring country. Perhaps the most frightening deal of the whole episode is that these girls are mere kids who are at the mercy of adult men who have absolutely no ethical or moral codes or rules to follow. They would be forever scarred for life and will find it extremely difficult to get this out of their minds. Here are some more frightening facts about the kidnapping of the Nigerian girls.

1. Boko Haram, the militant Islamic group is responsible for the kidnapping. The abducted girls in the boarding school were Christian and Muslim and the terrorists who abducted them belong to a very frightful and cruel Islamic group called the Boko Haram. This terrorist group has already been blamed for a lot of kidnappings and killings.

2. It has been two months already and there is no sign of the girls anywhere. The government and the military have shown no real interest in going to the remote region to free the girls and neither has the group made any moves either to release them. This uncertain situation has been going on for two months now, giving much grief and sleepless nights to the parents of the missing girls.

3. People might just stop sending their girls to school if this goes unpunished. The group that kidnapped the girls believes and proclaims that western education is sinful and that the right place for a girl is to stay at home. If they get away with this, it is going to set a very bad precedent and people are going to be very apprehensive about sending their girls to school in the future.
