5. Cleopatra & Julius Caesar

Cleopatra asked her soldiers to take her to Julius Caesar’s room when he was in Ptolemy’s palace. For this, she had herself rolled up in a carpet. She seduced Caesar and persuaded him to make her the queen of Egypt by overthrowing the existing rule. She was 21 then and Caesar was a man of 52.

6. Cleopatra & Mark Antony

It was after Caesar’s death that Cleopatra met Mark Antony. During the Roman Civil War, Mark Antony had invited Cleopatra over to Tarsus to ensure her support against the Parthians. When summoned, Cleopatra arrived in such a great state and grandeur that Antony was smitten by her. They eventually fell in love and supposedly married.

7. Her Death

During the war, Antony was almost at the losing end due to being ill-equipped against the Romans. At this time, he was misinformed about Cleopatra’s death. Hence, he immediately committed suicide. When Cleopatra got the news of Antony’s death, she was devastated. She followed Antony’s footsteps by making an Egyptian cobra, an asp, bite her on the breast.
