6 Hair Myths You Should Know About

Myth#4: Dandruff is caused by a dry scalp and is contagious.

Fact: Dry scalp and dandruff are completely different things. Using anti-dandruff shampoos when having a dry scalp is useless. Dandruff needs to be carefully and medically attended. Using an anti-dandruff shampoo when having dandruff may not always solve the problem. Secondly, dandruff is not contagious. Lice and many other scalp diseases can spread through combs, but dandruff cannot.

Myth#5: Massaging with hair oil before wash reduces hair fall.

Fact: Though partly true, there are a few things to take into account. Yes, hair oil is good for blood circulation but leaving oily hair for more than an hour can lead to hair fall. This is because oil can block the pores, thereby not allowing oxygen to reach the hair. Also, the acupuncture massages done to the head and scalp in the salon can sometimes be harmful. The strokes given by the experts can loosen the roots leading to hair fall.

Myth#6: Brushing makes your hair grow faster.

Fact: Brushing is good, only to a limited extent. Excessive brushing is a strict no-no. Once grooming is done, it is suggested to avoid further brushing because it can lead to hair breakage and fall.

Now that the popular hair myths have been proven wrong, take proper care of your hair for better growth and luster.
