Hollywood has become accustomed to the news of celebrities being sentenced to imprisonment. There are many top stars in Hollywood who had to spend gloomy nights behind bars on account of various charges ranging from hit and run cases, DUI (driving under the influence), possession of banned substances, drug abuse, murders and so on. Listed here are some of them.
1. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan’s successful career as an actress, model and singer came to an abrupt halt in 2007 following two incidents of driving under the influence (DUI). Later Lindsay Lohan was also sentenced to 90 days of imprisonment for violating probation.

2. 50 Cent
At the age of 19, the G-Unit leader 50 Cent had to serve his time in the New York State Department of Correctional Services following charges to peddle heroin and cocaine.

3. Eminem
In June 2000, the king of rap Marshall Mathers, III aka Eminem was twice arrested on charges of carrying concealed weapons and assaulting a man whom he accused of kissing his wife Kim.

4. Mel Gibson
In the summer of 2006, Mel Gibson had to spend a night behind bars as he was arrested for DUI. After the arrest, Gibson was also reported to have shouted anti-Semitic remarks and threatened the police officers.

5. Michael Jackson
The king of pop Michael Jackson was arrested by Santa Barbara County Sheriff on account of seven charges of child sexual abuse which created quite a media frenzy in the world of pop. However, in the year 2005 the jury announced Jackson not guilty and released him from all the charges.

6. Keanu Reeves
In the year 1993, the Matrix star Keanu Reeves was reportedly arrested for DUI and also for driving carelessly.

7. Halle Berry
On charges of hit and run, the Academy Award winner was arrested in March 2000. It has been reported that Halle Berry ran her car in spite of the red light and eventually struck another car and fled from the scene. This hit and run charge made her pay $1300 fine, 200 hours community service and three years of probation.
