6 Ways to Hang Out With People You don’t Like

4. Don’t assume or conjure negative vibes

It may be possible that you are the one who doesn’t like someone but that person has no such feelings for you. In such a case, your awkward behavior will create an embarrassing situation. Unless the person you dislike says something offensive or insults you, don’t invoke negative vibes. If you don’t assume that you will have a tough time with that person, hanging out with him or her may not actually prove to be that difficult.

5. Take the opportunity to know more about the person you don’t like

If you are an optimist and you like creating value even out of unfavorable situations, you can make the best out of spending time with someone you don’t like. You may never have had the opportunity in the past to know more about the person you dislike. But now that you have no option but to kill time with that person, make good use of the opportunity. There are chances that you could change your perception about that person by the end of your conversation.

6. Converse about a common interest

An effective way of hanging out with someone you don’t like is to talk about a topic of common interest which doesn’t interfere with your emotions or previous experiences with each other. This could include topics about sports, movies, politics or fashion. This way, you will be able to spend time with each other without any awkward silences.
