Isn't it crazy, we're still talking about Marilyn Monroe nearly 50 years after her death? Well, that is exactly what makes her one of the most remembered celebrities in Hollywood. It's pretty sad that Monroe died at the tender age of 36. The few years preceding her death were plagued with drugs, illness and many other personal problems. This lady, famously known for her flying white dress, died due to a drug overdose. What a tragic end to such a fantastic career.

2. Heath Ledger

We can fill up an entire page if we start penning down the awards Heath Ledger received for his role of a Joker in 'The Dark Knight'. You've watched his films, right? Then we don't need to tell you that this Australian actor was known for his versatile acting skills. On January 22, 2008 Ledger died of a drug overdose. Imagine the irony of his death. He couldn't even witness the accolades he received for his role in 'The Dark Knight'.

3. Michael Jackson

This was one death the whole world mourned over. Not only was the king of pop's death tragic, but also mysterious. Reports said that he died of a cardiac arrest in his LA home, but it is also rumoured that his death was doctored. What we find absolutely pitiable, is that the world could not see his next tour that he was preparing for before his death. What a moonwalk of a concert it would have been!

4. Anna Nicole Smith

'Playmate of the Year 1993', Anna Nicole Smith started working as a waitress, a Wal-Mart help girl and finally a stripper. And then guess what? She saw an ad in the newspaper to audition for Playboy, which became her first big break. Anna never looked back since then and starred in numerous television and film roles. It is unfortunate that Anna could not handle all the success that came to her. She died due to a lethal drug overdose in her hotel room. We wonder what makes celebrities succumb to the addiction of drugs?

5. Brittany Murphy

'Clueless', 'Girl, Interrupted', 'Just Married', '8 Mile', 'Happy Feet', 'Little Black Book' and 'Don't Say a Word' were some of Brittany Murphy's most popular films. This talented actress and singer seemed to have it all with a thriving movie and a singing career. In 2009, Murphy collapsed in her bathroom. Apparently, she died of severe pneumonia and over-the-counter drug intoxication. Later her husband too, died in the same home with similar symptoms. That's weird, isn't it?

We fail to understand why celebrities fill their lives with drugs and other addictions. Would you kill yourself with a drug overdose if you were famous, rich and were having the time of your life? Why these celebrities did so, we can never find out.
