Mastectomy means surgical removal of a breast. This surgery is generally carried out as a treatment for cancer. A lot of celebrities have undergone this surgery. Listed here are some of these celebrities who have had mastectomies.
1. Angelina Jolie
This top grossing Hollywood actress is the latest amongst celebrities who have undergone this surgery. She learned that she was carrying the BRCA1 gene which increased her chances of suffering from cancer. To avoid this from happening, she had a mastectomy.

2. Kathy Bates
The Oscar winning actress underwent the surgery in 2012 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress also battled ovarian cancer and had to go for a double mastectomy. Her doctors have said that she will live long. Hope that comes true

3. Sharon Osbourne
She was a judge in the famous TV show America’s Got Talent. The doctors advised her to go through the surgery after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was 10 years after she survived a battle against colon cancer.

In 2011, the E! News host underwent double mastectomy as she was in early stages of breast cancer. She said that the day she found out about it was the hardest day of her life.
