Creative people always try out other career options which are as creative as what they specialize in. Creativity knows no boundaries and can’t be restricted to one job. So you find a host of people dabbling in acting, direction, singing, production, writing, all at the same time. Here is a list of some of the most prolific actors who went on to become singers.
1. Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay may seem to be in a state of perpetual damage but she has done some pretty good acting and singing work in her heydays. She recorded her debut album 'Speak' in 2004 which went platinum and was a fast seller. She released her second album, 'A Little More Personal', the following year which recovered a luke warm response.

2. Scarlett Johansson
In May 2008, this sensuous blonde beauty released her debut album, 'Anywhere I lay my head'. She also starred in Justin Timberlake's chart busting song, 'What goes around'.

3. Kylie Minogue
If you were surprised seeing Kylie in this list then we have proof that she was actually an actor first and a singer later. The Australian pop princess Kylie started her career in showbiz as a child actor, alongside her sister Dannii when she starred as Charlene on TV soap Neighbors in 1986. She recorded her first single ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ in 1987. The song was so catchy and sweet that it went to No. 1 in the UK. Since then Ms. Minogue has been more into singing than acting.

4. Demi Lovato
As with most Disney child actors, Demi also followed the footsteps of Hilary Duff by turning into a musician. Before releasing her albums such as 'Unbroken' and 'Don't forget', she used to work as a child artist in TV kids shows, 'Barney and Friends' and 'Sonny with a Chance'. She also a did a film with the Jonas Brothers called 'Camp Rock'.

5. Hilary Duff
This bubbly new mom was the most popular child actor in the beginning of the new millennium when she starred in hit TV teen show, 'Lizzie McGuire'. She also did quite a few chick flicks before turning singer and releasing albums like 'Metamorphosis', 'Most Wanted' and 'Dignity'.

6. Selena Gomez
Another famous and much loved Disney child star who has gone on to become a rage on the music scene is Justin Bieber's ex, Selena Gomez. Her songs sizzle both on the charts and on stage.

7. Russell Crowe
Crowe is as good at his original craft, acting, as he is with his passion for singing. In the '80s he recorded a track called ‘I Want To Be Like Marlon Brando’ under the name Rus LeRoq. In the '90s he fronted the Australian band '30 Odd Foot of Grunts' and in 2006 he formed a new band called 'The Ordinary Fear Of God'.

8. Minnie Driver
Acclaimed actress Minnie released her debut album 'Everything I’ve Got In My Pocket' in 2004 which she followed up with her second album, 'Seastories'. She also starred in the hit musical 'Phantom of the Opera' in 2004.
