8. On the third day Mary Magdalene, a follower of Christ arrived at his tomb to venerate the body of Jesus. When Mary Magdalene saw that Jesus’ body had disappeared, she began to weep.

9. At that time an earthquake took place, as an angel of God moved the stone, that was used to cover the tomb.

10. The angel of the Lord appeared before Mary Magdalene and said to her, “Jesus who was crucified is no longer in the tomb. He is risen, just as he said he would.” She was overwhelmed with joy.

11. The angel told her to go and inform the disciples of Jesus about this.

12. When Mary Magdalene was on the way, she met Jesus. She fell at his feet. Jesus picked her up and said to her, “Do not fear. Go and tell my disciples to go to Galilee to meet me.”

13. After this, Jesus met his disciples just like he had promised. Thereafter, he met them at several places till he finally ascended to heaven.

14. The English word “Easter” is believed to be derived from a spring festival for a pagan goddess, Eostre.

This is the most beautiful story in the Bible. Easter was a day when Jesus resurrected, both body and soul. Hence Easter is the most sacred of all the festivals of the Christians.
