1. No intercourse during periods
While having sex during periods will not get you pregnant even without any protection, you should avoid doing so for it is quite possible to catch an infection. At this time, the acid and alkaline balance of your vagina changes and bacteria can easily spread or multiply.
2. Go for regular Cervical screening tests
Women ought to go for a pap smear or cervical screening tests on a regular basis. These tests check the health of the cervix cells and detect the possibility of cervical cancer. A pap smear uses the cells in the passage that leads to the vagina. While such screening is not a call for worrying, it can prove helpful in detecting abnormal cells in some women.
3. Wear cotton underwear and change your laundry detergent
Reduce your risk of contracting vaginitis, a common disease among women who don’t take proper care of their sexual health. Wear cotton underwear and use detergents made specifically for washing your delicates. This can reduce the risk of vaginitis. Avoid using perfumed soaps and deodorants in your intimate area as this may lead to irritation and even infections.
