5. Played games

Both the natives and settlers had a good time in celebrations of Thanksgiving. As a gesture, they also played games with each other. They sang many English songs and also danced on the occasion as a part of the gesture. This celebration was not the kind which happens today, because of the change in the way, people look at it.

6. The harvest gathering

The official Thanksgiving Day and harvest gathering was made official in the year 1621. But, the first ever religious Thanksgiving was celebrated after two years that is 1623 in Plymouth. Most people in the gathering officially thanked the Lord and everyone around for all the things they had. They also offered special prayers to the rain God which helped them in the harvest after the season of drought.

7. Modern Thanksgiving

The new official Thanksgiving was celebrated from the year 1863, when the U.S president Abraham Lincoln declared two Thanksgiving days. One thanksgiving was celebrated in the month of August and other in November for general gesture of thanks. Slowly, this also changed and now we celebrate Thanksgiving on a single day of the year that is last Thursday of November as a part of gratitude.
