What Are The Shoe Looks In 2011?

Ankle Booties

Ankle booties are totally in vogue this season. From lace booties to zipper ones, from peep toe to the slip-on ankle bootie, these suit the conservative as well as the modern dresser. Fashion houses like Miss Sixty’s and designers like BCB Generation and Kenneth Colewhich have heralded the bootie this season.

Ballet Flats

The Oscar nominated movie ‘Black Swan’, this year, surely inspired a thing or two on the ramp this season. The reworking of the Jesus Sandal in the 2011 season has brought in a whole new variation to the existing line of the ballet shoes. Designers like Chloé, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld (of Chanel) have taken this traditional sandal and turned it into a stylish, luxurious version that women have vouched for. Apart from flats, even ballet pumps in soft nudes will work best with all outfits.

Flatforms

These appear exactly how they sound – they are a form of ballet flats, elevated on a high platform heel, held by an ankle strap. Since the base itself is high without being uneven like a heel, you can walk in Flatforms without having a heel ache. Designers like Prada, Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Derek Lam, Michael Kors and Chloe have been inspired by them completely-the proof of which being that all of them have featured the Flatforms in their lines in the 2011 collection.

Nude Pumps

This is one shoe look that can never go out of design, just due to the sheer style and classic quality of its design. It goes well with just about any outfit possibly created for womankind! The only twist in this year’s pumps is that they have been embellished with rosettes, lace and studs for that extra glamorous look. The designers who took to these pumps like fish to water are Badgley Mischka, Jodie Frangia and the fashion house Boutique 9.

Some of the other great names that have set trends for shoes this season are Manolo Blahnik, whose label is synonymous with high heels and Carrie Bradshaw, the star of Sex and the City who has made this brand so popular through the TV series that everyone now wants a pair of Blahniks. An outrageously stunning feature of the Versace Cruise 2011 collection is its extreme heel height and base platforms. The newest white and black Calvin Klein shoes with its corrugated soles are a beautiful mix of utility and style- a great asset in slippery weather. Designers have added a slight twist to classic designs and the footwear industry is shouting ‘Old is gold’ – but we ain’t complaining! Are we?
