One of the main reasons why we suffer in life is because we become dependent on others for our happiness. You will lose the control that you have on your life the moment you give the reigns to someone else. We give you some of the ways in which you can be responsible for your own happiness.

1. Be financially independent

One of the main things you need to do in order to take control of your own life is to be financially independent. If you constantly need someone’s help when it comes to your financial needs then you will never be truly independent. Having your own money will give you freedom and you would not have to be answerable to anyone when it comes to spending the green.

2. Find a hobby

It is important to keep yourself busy if you want to be responsible for your own happiness. Find something that cheers you up. Something that you can do after a hard day’s work. This way, you will not have to be dependent on others to pass time. You must try and introspect and figure out your true calling. It could be reading books, painting, dancing, or anything that brings a smile to your face when you are free and on your own.

3. Keep your expectations to a minimum

Needless to say, you will never be truly happy if you are dependent on others for your emotional needs. Whether you are a wife, a mother, a girl friend, or a daughter, the lower your expectations the better it will be for you. Know that having big expectations from others will only bring you misery in the long run.
