Ways to Naturally Induce Labour in 38th Week

Pregnancy is such a wonderful and magical time. It is especially wonderful when you are pregnant for the first time and enjoy having and nurturing a life within you. But after the 38th week the baby will be ready to be delivered and some babies would not want to come out. Although you may have enjoyed your pregnancy a lot, you may want to get the baby out both for your health and the baby’s health. When you do not start getting contractions after the 38th week and you do not want to go to the hospital to have a chemically induced labour, you can try the following natural ways to induce labour after 38 weeks. By the 38th week, you would have seen your gynecologist enough times and by now you would know if yours is going to be a normal birth or if you would need special care. This is important as you should try inducing labour only if your delivery is going to be natural. Here are some ways to naturally induce labour in after 38 weeks.

1. Nipple stimulation

It does not work on everybody, but when you stimulate your nipples by rubbing them or touching them, your body produces a hormone called oxytocin which is said to cause contractions that induce labour.

2. Sex

This is not a method that is preferred by a lot of women but having sex induces labour in three ways. First a good orgasm will help stimulate the uterus, sex also triggers the release of oxytocin, and finally, sperms have a lot of prostaglandins which soften the neck of the womb helping induce labour.

3. Castor oil

Although this seems to work in some women this is the last thing you should try when you are trying to naturally induce labour, as castor oil can act as a laxative and can cause diarrhea and also make you vomit violently.

4. Acupressure

This Chinese practice is also a great way of inducing labour naturally. It not only helps in inducing labour but also helps relieve the pain associated with the delivery. Just make sure you get this done by a professional and do not try this yourself.
