6 Ways to Help Your Child Develop an Interest in Sports

4. Get all your children’s peers to play the same sport

When kids are young, peer pressure is high and they tend to base a lot of their decision on their friends. To get your children to play sports, try getting their friends to play the same sport too. Let your children’s friends gather at your place in the evening to play basketball. Alternatively, parents can also set a roster of taking the whole group to a nearby park where they can play any sport they want.

5. Buy your children good sports gear

You can lure your children into playing a sport by getting them good quality sports gear. At a young age, kids tend to get carried away by fancy sports jerseys which carry the name of a famous sportsperson and other such sports paraphernalia. Depending on which sport you want your children to play, buy them a beginner’s kit so that they are motivated to play more.

6. Build a competitive environment for your children to play sports

Children love competing while playing games. So challenging them to a game can be a good way to get them to leave the couch and hit the field. Set up a mock tournament for your children and their friends. Spend weekends playing a sport with your children and set a lucrative incentive for the winner. Bringing in a competitive spirit in a game will push them to pick up that sport and master it well
