Ways to Decrease Your Carbon Footprint

We live in a time and a world where we are addicted to certain things that isn’t good news to the environment. From the food we eat, to the deodorants we use, from refrigeration to moving around in cars and planes, we have messed up our planet and the atmosphere to such an extent that it is doubtful what exactly we are leaving for the future generations. For our sake, the sake of our kids and the numerous other lives that are dependent on our planet we need to take care of our polluting ways. It isn’t easy as old habits die hard and we have made our lives comfortable and dependent on these things. This however is one thing that we have to seriously think about and here are some ways to decrease your carbon footprint.

1. Switch off the gadgets when you are not working on them

Leaving on gadgets in the sleep mode consumes a lot of energy and the little energy you save on these things goes a long way in decreasing your carbon footprint. Laptops are also an efficient way as unlike desktops they are energy conserving and make much sense when you are conscious about saving energy.

2. Car pool your way to school runs and work

Carpooling is an efficient way not only to conserve energy and fuel, but is also great to get to know more people and also build a sense of community. And think of all the smoke that you wouldn’t see coming out of the exhaust pipes when you get your cars serviced on time. If you can do with just one car for the whole family, you should go for it.

3. Buying and cooking locally grown foods

Locally grown foods are not only healthy but also save a lot in terms of transportation costs. And transportation over long distances obviously involves a lot of fuel and emissions. Buy locally grown food, support your neighborhood farmer and also have a healthy conscience about your carbon imprint.
