A symbol of Jordan and also a World Heritage Site under UNESCO, this ancient city is a treat for those into history and architecture.

3. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil
Nobody needs a reason to head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. You just head to the land of carnivals. Close to 40m in height, the statue stands on the Corcovado Mountain overlooking the city. Christ the Redeemer, a symbol of Brazilian Christianity welcomes tourists from all religions. The view from the top of the mountain and the aerial view of the statue overlooking the city are breathtaking.

4. Machu Picchu, Peru

Built in Mexico, this archaeological structure was built by the Mayan civilization. Chichen Itza is widely appreciated for its architecture and design. 6. Colosseum, Rome
Arguably, the greatest amphitheater ever built, the Colosseum stands in the center of the city of Rome. Considered to be among the greatest work under Roman engineering and architecture, the Russell Crowe starrer 'Gladiator' has shown the Colosseum in its greatest grandeur. With a capacity of 50,000, the Colosseum was used for Gladiator battles, animal hunts, mock battles, famous battles enactments and even sea battles. A must visit for everyone.

7. Taj Mahal, India
Considered to be the symbol of love, the Taj Mahal is built on the banks of the Ganges in the city of Agra. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a jewel of Muslim art and is built of marble with brilliant carvings and stunning stones. A World Heritage Site, the Taj Mahal is the symbol of India and is visited by millions.
