In Denmark and Norway, the tradition of celebrating Valentine’s \day came a little late but they still have their own customs. Men send funny little poems or rhyming love notes anonymously on Valentine’s Day, giving them only a clue as to the number of letters in the sender’s name, represented by a dot for each letter. The recipient should guess who sent her the card. If the guess is correct she gets an egg on Easter and if she guesses wrong, then she owes an egg on Easter.

In these countries, this day is celebrated as a day of friendship rather than a day for professing your romantic love. However, people choose this day to get married or get hitched which is a little ironic.
