Warts may be the result of a viral infection called HPV; it has around 120 identified types. Warts are seen as a rough, elevated projection on the skin and mostly appear on the knees, elbows, fingers, scalp and face. Due to its antiviral properties, placing crushed garlic and covering it with bandage for around 24 hours is believed to be the simplest and most effective way of treating warts at home.
Essential oils like tea tree oil with its antiseptic properties and castor oil also help remove warts. A cotton swab dipped in tea tree oil should be applied daily on the wart till it disappears. Castor oil can be massaged on the wart and should be kept covered with bandage. This method can heal the wart in 3-5 weeks. Applying a drop of essential lemon oil directly on the wart few times a day till the wart disappears is also an effective home remedy.

Another popular method for removing the wart is to cover it with duct tape for 5-6 days, and finally washing and scrubbing it with pumice stone.
