Top 5 Home Remedies for Dandruff

Dandruff is a very common problem we face. Dandruff can be caused due to various reasons such as lack of vitamin B, hard water or less/no proper care. Hair becomes brittle, dry and falls out due to this. Though there are many chemical remedies and renowned shampoos to fight dandruff, home remedies are considered to work the best. Here are a few home remedies for dandruff.

1. Lemon

Lemon is proved to be the best remedy to get rid of dandruff. It can be used in several ways. One is to take the peels of 3-4 lemons, and boil them in 4-5 cups of water for 15-20 minutes. After it cools down, this solution can be used to wash hair once in a week.
Another measure is to use fresh lemon juice. Massaging it on scalp before going for a shower is effective. But make sure that hair is washed and rinsed thoroughly to clean away the liquid completely. Lemon juice removes stickiness, prevents dandruff and makes hair look radiant.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil in general is considered to be good as it smoothens and nourishes hair. Oil massage once in a while is good for hair as it helps eliminate dandruff. However, frequent oil massages can be harmful as they can loosen the roots.
Apply 4-5 tablespoons of warm coconut oil to the scalp and massage it with fingertips. Leave it for half an hour and wash hair thoroughly. Lemon juice along with this oil massage can work wonders too.

3. Yogurt

Healthy and natural yogurt is yet another remedy to get rid of dandruff. After letting it to ferment for 2-3 days, apply yogurt to hair and leave it for a while. Not for hours together as it can make hair hard and sticky. Wash it thoroughly and repeat till you get rid of dandruff.
