A job interview is one of the most nerve-wracking event in our lives. There would hardly be anyone on earth who would not feel nervous during an interview. More than qualification and experience, it’s your deep desire to work for a company that can take you places. But, for that, it’s essential to crack your interview and we feel that if you follow the tips mentioned below, your chances will surely improve. We believe that, you will not only overcome your nervousness but also come out as a shining star.

1. Create an interesting resume

Your first introduction to your future employer takes place through your resume. Hence, you have to be very careful when drafting one. Make sure your resume is in a proper format and information furnished in the resume follows industry standards. Also, make sure there are no spelling errors or silly mistakes in the resume. It can kill the content and make a bad impression. If you are not quite adept at creating the resume, you may ask a friend or get professional help.

2. Research about the company

When you get a call for an interview, the first thing that you need to do is research well about the company. Background research not only helps you learn about the company’s past and future but it will also help you make an impression on the interviewer when he/she asks you anything related to their company.

3. Review your highs and lows

Before you get ready for the interview, make sure you review your highs and lows. You should be the first person to know what you are good at and what you are not. For this, you can even take your past experiences into account. Until and unless you don’t know your USP, you can not convince the interviewer to hire you.

4. Wear the right clothes

An interview is a formal occasion and you need to have an appropriate attire for the same. You can not sport a casual look there. No denims, no tees, no mini skirts. Wear buttoned down shirts and trousers. Or you can pair your shirt with a knee length skirt. Tie your hair into a bun or at least make sure they’re neat and tidy. Don’t go there to show your brand new hairstyle.

5. Avoid excess makeup

Interviews are professional interactions which have no place for makeup. Unless and until you have to go to a modeling agency for an interview, you are not supposed to wear heavy makeup. Nude makeup is the best option for a job interview.

6. Reach the venue on time

Time is money. You must have heard this adage a number of times in the past. But, when it comes to interviews, it is actually applicable. If you reach on time, you will make a good impression and if you make a good impression, there are high chances of you cracking the interview. If you crack the interview, you’re going to get money! So, you see, they’re all interlinked.

7. Greet the interviewer

As soon as you meet the interviewer, greet him/her. It’s a formal way of breaking the ice. Plus, it will tell the interviewer that you have a know-how of interview etiquettes.

8. Wear a pleasant smile

All through the interview, maintain a pleasant smile. Do not grin. Make it look genuine, not plastic. A smile will also help you hide your nervousness. It will also make it easy to talk with the interviewer.
